Chapter Eight
The Helper Robots

Jacob and Ben had never mentioned Castle Wizbin to their sister Rachel, they had never mentioned it to anyone. They knew without being asked by the wizard that they shouldn't and since Rachel had her own friends, well it just didn't come up. Till now.

They had all gone off to play hide and seek in the woods where they were on holiday. Being a long way away from their normal friends they played together. Something they didn't normally do. It wasn't they didn't love each other, they did, it's just well girls are girls and Rachel was Rachel. So they were playing hide and seek and Jacob had counted to one hundred gone off and found Ben easily as usual but the two of them couldn't find Rachel, not for a long time.

Eventually they are shouting that they have given up and she has won and can come out now but she still didn't appear. They begin to worry that she has got lost or something because Rachel could be very head strong and fearless to the point of stupidity. They were about to go and get help when Ben thought he heard something.

"Quiet, Jacob, quiet," he said and they both listened carefully. They could hear Rachels voice, very faintly, "Help. Help me. Help."

They didn't know from where it was coming and began to carefully quietly scout around. Jacob found a spot where her voice seemed louder and almost fell into a hole. Her voice was coming from the hole.

They shouted down, Rachel was very upset and very glad to hear their voices. She had found this hole and crept in to hide but some ground had given way and she had fell and was on a bit of a ledge inside what seemed to be a very deep crevace.

"We'll have to go and get help," said Ben, "It's getting dark now, one of us should stay here and the other should go. Even Dad may not be able to get her out, it might need someone with a rope and some potholing experience."

Jacob as about to agree when he had thought. He took out is Cyan comm stick. "I think this is an emergency don't you?" Ben agreed and he quickly twisted the pen cap round and back, round and back again. The minute they had to wait seemed like a year but two figures approached on things that looked like motor bikes except they could fly through the woods. The figures stopped, got off and came over. What strange looking figures they were, all dressed in the kind of gear you would expect emergency rescue people to be dressed in but with faces that looked almost scary.

"Hello," said one of them, "We are Castle Wizbin First Response Helpers. What is the emergency?"

Jacob explained the situation. The two helpers rigged up a winch with a robe and one of them put on the harness while the other lowered him, or her, into the hole.

They must have had some kind of direct communication because they didn't have to shout to each other.

The one on the winch said,"Your sister is safe, my associate has got hold of her and we are going to bring her up. She has a minor injury that will need attention."

As the helper on the harness appeared Rachel was attached, and what a sorry sight she was, all covered in dirt and scratches and scrapes, her clothes torn and very upset. Jacob and Ben helped her out of the harness. The helper said, "Lie down" but she tried to take a step and let out a yell and would have fallen down if the helper hadn't caught her. "She has a broken ankle," she said, "We can't fix that here. We will have to take her back to the castle."

It was all quite a lot of Rachel to take in. She was of course in shock from her fall and injury and then being rescued by two weird life savers. She began to act up, "I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. I want to go home."

"Oh dear," said the helper robot in a female voice, "Oh dear."

Jacob helped Rachel to hop over and sit down on a rock. He sat beside her and put his arm around her. "Rachel take it easy, take it easy. Everything is going to be alright."

It took quite a while to explain everything. At the end Rachel was still a bit mad but more because they had kept such a secret from her."

There was room on the scooters for everyone and so off they went back to Castle Wizbin where Rachel not only had her ankle repaired but went on a tour of the castle and in the end knew almost as much as Jacob and Ben.

The Helper Robots took them almost all the way back and as usual they got back in perfect time.
