Believers
Chapter Six
Magic Galore

Such a lot of things going on that Jacob and Ben didn't have a day free to go back to Castle Wizbin for some time. They were having end of term exams and had to study hard. Ben was studying in the school library between classes and he left his Cyan comm stick there. He didn't realize till half way through his next class and had to wait till class was finished before he could go back. But it was gone, after all it just looked like a normal pen and somebody would have just picked it up in all innocence. He dreaded having to tell his older brother Jacob that he had been so careless.

After school he went to meet Jacob as usual and was about to tell him when he put his hand into his pocket and his pen was there. He took it out and looked at it to be sure.

"You shouldn't stare at it Ben," said Jacob, "Someone might think there is something special about it."

That's when Ben told Jacob what had happened and they realized that they couldn't lose their Cyan comm sticks, they would always come back to them.

One day they went to school on their bikes so that they could try out some of the mountain bike practise trails near the school. It was amazing, they could do all the things they had seen the older boys do and even more. They had to stop when some older boys came to avoid attracting attention to themselves.

Jacob wore his magic basket ball shoes for luck on the day he was taking his history exam. He was not very good at history and the good luck shoes seemed to help. On the way home, a bit later than usual and by himself walking he suddenly found himself surrounded by a group of older boys known to be bullies and trouble makers. Jacob was confused and quite a bit scared.

"Nice shoes Jacob Gold," the gang leader sneered.

"Yeah! Nice shoes," repeated one of the gang.

"How about you take them off so's we can look at them"

Jacob knew of course that they intended to steal his shoes, leave him to walk home in his stocking feet even maybe rough him up a bit and threaten worse if he told anyone about it. Jacob wasn't a coward but he was also not stupid. There were six of seven of them, all bigger and stronger than he was, he didn't have a chance to defend himself.

But his shoes thought differently, he suddenly could feel them throb with power on his feet and he couldn't stand still. He intended to take a little step backwards away from the gang leader and he jumped clean over the boys behind him. They were so surprised they kind of froze for a few seconds wondering where he had gone. Meanwhile Jacob seeing his chance took off and ran like the wind in his magic shoes. There was no way the bullies could catch him.

He was telling Ben about it later and they realized that both the shoes and the bikes were very special gifts. They aught to go back and thank Wizard Crackoops properly.
