Believers - Chapter Two
Ben believes.

Jacob was back where he had first met Crafty. He had told Ben, bis brother, about it but Ben didn't believe him. So Jacob had brought him here to show him.

"Are you sure we're not lost?" Ben asked.

"We're not lost. There's the log where I met crafty," replied Jacob.

"I still say blue jay's can't talk," Ben sat on the log.

"Cawk. Well that all you know. Hello Jacob, who's you're skeptic friend," Crafty appeared.

"Crafty this is my brother, Ben. Ben this is Crafty who helped me when I was lost."

"H-h-hello-er-Crafty," Ben muttered shaking his head in wonder.

"Cawk, you seem surprised. Don't you believe you're brother."

"I'm sorry," said Ben,"I don't mean to be rude but I've never talked to a-a-a"

Crafty laughed, "Well now would you like to go really deep in the woods? I can show the way."

Jacob and Ben looked at each other but Crafty was swooping off down the path without waiting for an answer. The boys ran after. Soon they had no idea where they were. Soon they came to an opening in the trees with a grassy meadow on the side of a hill. They flopped down to get their breath.

After a few minutes Jacob sat up,"What's that?" he asked Crafty, pointing to the top of the hill.

Crafty started to get excited and jumped up and down,"Cawk! Cawk! You can see it. You can see it."

Ben looked," I don't see anything," he said.

"Only 'Believers' can see it," Crafy said, "Now that you're brother has seen it maybe you will too if you look real hard."

Ben stared and gradually he saw what Jacob was seeing, "What is it?" he asked it's very faint, is it real.

"It's only real to those who believe. You have to be very sure it's there. Face the other way and try reciting this rhyme. Repeat after me."

Open your minds and open your hearts
to open your eyes to the truth.
The Castle Wizbin has many parts
only seen by the innocence of youth.

"Say it again," said Crafty, "and again. Now take a look."

The boys turned and gasped, now they could see it clearly.

Ben started to walk up the path towards the castle.

"Stop Ben stop," Crafty shouted suddenly very alarmed.

But Ben either didn't hear him or was drawn by some force he couldn't resist.

Crafty flew in front of Ben,"Stop, stop. Please stop."

Ben hesitated and then a roaring sound started and got louder and louder until it was deafening.

"Chawk! Chawk! We must go. WE MUST GO NOW. Come on," Crafty was flying round and around in alarm.

The three of them ran back into the woods and as they ran the roaring gradually faded away.

But Crafty didn't stop until they got back to the old log meeting place.

He waited for the boys to catch up and when they arrived they were totally out of breath.

"Cawk. Well you know the way from here. I must go now," and before they had got their breath back to say anything he was gone.

Ben sat on the log and Jacob lay on the floor. Ben was the first to be able to speak.

"Well Jacob I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I'm a believer now, big time but what was that castle and that roaring sound?"

Jacob sat up again, "I don't know any more than you Ben. The rhyme said it was Castle Wizbin, whatever that is. And the roaring sound - who knows - real scary."

They started the walk back home. There was no need to say what they both thought. That they would be coming back real soon - if not sooner.
